Public Meetings on Countywide Drainage Plan Scheduled
Meetings scheduled on Bolivar Peninsula, Mainland
Galveston County, TX - Galveston County, along with Klotz Associates, Inc., will hold two Public Meetings on the outcomes of the Galveston Countywide Drainage Study. The drainage study has identified a plan of recommended drainage improvements in Galveston County to restore, rehabilitate, and replace the existing drainage facilities (channels, ditches, sloughs, culverts, and outfall structures) damaged or otherwise failed as a result of high storm surge and heavy rainfall from Hurricane Ike on September 13, 2008 and those that might be damaged or fail as a consequence of similar storm surge or heavy rainfall in the future.
Klotz has led a team of infrastructure professionals to prepare the Galveston County Study. The team includes Shelmark Engineering, L.L.C., Huitt-Zollars, Inc., and CivilTech Engineering, Inc. The public is invited to become familiar with the Drainage Study results during two public meetings. “We have gathered information from the folks that experience these problems first hand: municipalities, drainage districts, municipal utility districts and the general public. This is a comprehensive look at the problems and wide-ranging options for solutions for the long term.” emphasizes Gary Struzick with Klotz.
The public has two opportunities to meet with county officials and engineering company representatives and review the study basics, outcomes and project opportunities:
