Click on the map, then when the map comes up on the NOAA page, click on the little square of the area you want, when the picture of that area comes up, click on it again to download the high resolution version of the image. |

The photo of my house does not give me enough detail to tell the condition. Is there any way to zoom in more than the 1 click zoom?

You can request a more detailed image from the NOAA.
They also have a library of photos we are trying to download and make available. It's very large and will take a while. |

The above NOAA image doesn't contain our whole street. We were beachfront on Tinkle Lane and we can see JOY SANDS HOTEL but not the whole way down the street. Do they have other more complete pictures elsewhere? Can we request one? thanks, Bellek |

We know our house is still standing, we saw it on the news at close view and it has a roof and four sides and a deck still intact! When will residents be able to return to assess the damage and like us, retrieve what valuable we can from our house? We are worried about mold and mildew damage to our belongings or worse- looters! |

I'm looking for an old friend of mine that lived in Port Bolivar off Madison Ave. I believe. It's been atleast 15 years. Does anyone know if Curtis Maxey Jr. evacuated? Did he go to Texarkana to be with his dad? Is he safe? I'm an old friend and saw the devastation on the news. I'm concerned. Please contact me at the email address above or call me at: 281-543-3256. Thank you so much! |

Reply to Dee @ 808 Sand Dollar. From aerial photos it appears your beach house is gone. Our beach house was across the street at 809 Sand Dollar. It's gone too. Most all of the homes in Emerald I and Gladys Meynig from the beach up to the small water gulley hafway up to 87 are all destroyed. I'll be going to the penisula this week-end. If I find anything different, I'll let you know. Sorry to report the bad news. We're heartbroken too and already miss our place dearly.... |

I went to "Bolivar Elementary School" from 2nd to 5th grade..1970-1975! My family had a beach house 2 blocks from the North Jetty on Anderson Ave (if memory serves me right) which, sadly, burned down several years ago. I have made very infrequent trips there over the years, too few, looking back. For those of you who lost loved ones or property, I am truly sorry for your loss. Bolivar was, and will always be, the happiest memories of my childhood. I wish you all the best. |

Does anyone know of a little subdivision called Blue Water, close to a little club called the Ship's Wheel? My parents used to own a small cabin on the bay side on Selwyn Drive. It was just a small gray cedar cabin trimmed in white on the right-hand side, about midway down the street. We owned it for about 35 years, and would love to know if it is still standing.
