Quilt Show By The Beach Bees

THE BEACH BEES group was formed in the home of Marion Neff in 2001. The initial members were Diana Eickhron, Donna Heinrich, Alice Hurlbert, Linda Kelly, Jhovita Thomas, Mickey June Wright and Marion Neff.
Discussion centered around each others past work and goals for quilting in the future. The group also discussed some of the new techniques and tools on the market and nearby places to purchase fabric and take classes.
Very enthusiastically, the Bees decided to meet the second and fourth Wednesday of each month in the old AARP building. This building was scheduled for demolition, but the county building on Highway 87 was available. Soon the meetings were changed to the new Joe Faggard Community Center where they meet to this day. The members enjoy exchanging information, helping one another with projects, and dining together. Several members have moved away, new members have joined and the Beach Bees have taken on a life of its own, as groups usually do.
The Beach Bees welcome newcomers. Just bring a sack lunch and drink, along with ideas of what you would like to work on. At present, members belong to various area quilt guilds and attend classes in Friendswood, Galveston, Beaumont, and surrounding areas. Many members attend the International Quilt Show held in Houston each fall.

The Absentees: Sonja Schutt, Brenda McDonald, Jolene Unnerstall, Norma Wogglin, Chris Guidry, Mickey Wright, Brenda Palmer, Bobby Wong. |

Very nice quilt...I love this memory of the house on Crystal Beach. Whoever won the auction got a one-of-a-kind treasure. |
