Lyondell Bike-Around-the-Bay Rider Hit By Car
A Helicopter airlifted an injured bicycle rider from the new Audubon Village Resort which was near the scene of the accident on Hwy 87 just outside Gilchrist Texas on the Bolivar Peninsula.
Audubon Village Resort Sales Center Staff Mike Stuart was at the scene and said "this accident clearly identifies the need for the county to put speed bumps and traffic lights in front of the new residential areas that are being developed and planned along Hwy 87 on the Bolivar Peninsula". "While we do have a flashing signal at our beach crossing over Hwy 87 and a reduced speed limit, many drivers do not adhere to it"

Two Ambulances and Police were quick to respond and provide care to the injured bicycle rider.
The ride continued as the rescue personal were quick to move the rider to the new open section of the Audubon Village Resort to provide a spot for the helicopter to land and also to keep the bike ride event running smoothly. |
