The band
wowed the local crowd Friday night at the Crystal Beach Tiki Beach Bar & Grill. Famous for having girls in the horn section and flashy piano tricks, Ezra’s songs are not typically the first thing the audience notices, but at the end of the day, they are positively the reason for the band's extraordinary staying power.
Playing
at clubs, concerts, media events, fund-raisers, and events of every kind, Ezra Charles and the Works have played private shows for The Rolling Stones, President George Bush, The NBA All-Star Party, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, and the 1992 Republican National Convention.
Ezra
grew up just around the corner, in Beaumont Texas, performing with the Winter brothers, Johnny & Edgar. They played together in a local band when Ezra was just a teenager in high school. Charles recalls that experience each time he hears one of his own songs, "Beaumont Boys," which gives recognition to the many brilliant artists who have walked the same walks as the entertainer himself. "My music is an autobiography. I tell the whole story of my life through songs," said Charles.
The
Bolivar Peninsula Texas Crab Festival
is where the band got their start on the Bolivar Peninsula 18 years ago. "All it took was one appearance, and the fans were hooked," said Anne Willis, Coordinator for the Texas Crab Festival. "The people love him and absolutely demand him each and every year," adds Willis.
The increasing popularity of the Bolivar Peninsula
is now attracting more and better entertainment than ever before. Come see Ezra Charles and The Works at next year's Texas Crab Festival on Mother's Day Weekend. |
