The Gilchrist Community Association (GCA) would like to thank all of
the fellow citizens of Bolivar Peninsula for their overwhelming
support for our Legal Defense Fundraiser. Rollover Pass has a lot of
history and is enjoyed by thousands of fisherman, weekenders and
overnighters who support local businesses throughout the peninsula
while they are here and are vital to all of our financial growth.  I
can say without any reservation that our Golf Cart Fish Fry Fundraiser
was successful and we could not have done it without you.

One of the GCA’s missions is to provide community services and on
Saturday, we prepared 50 fish fry plates and delivered them to the
employees of  Gulf Coast Market who were unable to attend because they
were at work providing services to the visitors of the peninsula. We
are looking forward to providing other services in the near future.

Once again, thank you Bolivar Peninsula!

Sincerely,
Ted Vega
President, Gilchrist Community Association

Governor [Noteworthy] We Built A Stronger Texas
7/26/2014 1:02:51 AM When it comes to building a thriving economy that benefits citizens across the board, Texas has taken an approach that is as simple as it is revolutionary: put people – employers and employees alike – in the best possible position to succeed, and then get out of the way.
Governor [Noteworthy] Education Key To Continued Texas Prosperity
7/26/2014 1:02:51 AM Texas has created a business climate unrivaled in the nation. We have low taxes, fair courts, reasonable and predictable regulations and a commitment to practicing the kind of fiscal conservatism that leaves money on the table at the end of the biennium.
TGC Texas Gov. Perry Deploys Texas National Guard Troops to Border
7/22/2014 6:01:51 PM
Gov. Rick Perry today directed Texas Adjutant General John Nichols to immediately begin preparations for the deployment of up to 1,000 National Guard troops to the border. These troops will support the Texas Department of Public Safety's (DPS) ongoing law enforcement surge, Operation Strong Safety, which is focused on combatting criminal activity in the region resulting from the federal government's failure to adequately secure the border.

Michael Stuart's insight:

"There can be no national security without border security, and Texans have paid too high a price for the federal government's failure to secure our border," Gov. Perry said. "The action I am ordering today will tackle this crisis head-on by multiplying our efforts to combat the cartel activity, human traffickers and individual criminals who threaten the safety of people across Texas and America."

Texas has already seen results from Operation Strong Safety - from week 1 to week 3 of operations, apprehensions of illegal immigrants have dropped by 36 percent, from more than 6,600 per week to 4,200 per week in the theater of operation.

TGC The Iconic Beach House
7/20/2014 12:41:33 AM
Anywhere you find a gorgeous stretch of beach and someone who appreciates it, you'll find a beach house.

Michael Stuart's insight:

The beach house occupies a special place in our hearts. It represents warmth, fun, relaxation, and total freedom from the daily stress of urban living, even if it's just for the weekend.

Swedes 40 Years and Counting by Georgia Osten
7/23/2012 2:18:00 PM by Georgia Osten The Walla Family blew into town last Monday for their 40th Annual Crystal Beach Vacation. Yes, Mildred and Johnnie Walla and family have been coming to Crystal Beach every summer for the last 40 years! Mildred remembers coming with her father when she was in high school in Beaumont. To celebrate the event, they had special t-shirts printed. They always plan their vacation for the week after the 4th, because "the crowds are smaller." Their first vacation rental was handled by Mr. Swede himself, and they have been coming back to Swede's Real Estate ever since.
